RE: Campground in Arkansas Ozarks??

West of Hot Springs either on US 70 or US 270 you will find several COE cmapgrounds. I think you might like Star of the West.

RE: Where's my oil going?? Workhorse 8.1L

Mine used a quart every 2,000 miles up to about 20,000 miles, then very little. Now at 77,000, when I change oil at the 3,000 mile mark, it is nearly full. Go Figure!

RE: to Florida by 79 and then 77 and then to 95?

I use I-77 to go to Charleston, SC several times a year. There is a West Virgina State Park at exit 20 on I-77. Camp Creek, about 2 miles off the interstate, with a couple pull-thrus. Electric at each site, and central water points. Really pretty, a waterfall about 1/2 hike, mountain stream. Open year round last year, we were there in early Feb. with just an inch of snow.
I-77 is thru the mountians, but the engineers did a good job making it a fine route. The toll gates are a bit tight, use the extreme righthand gate for a bit more room.

RE: Need Suggestions (Gulf Coast)

I think I am beginning to sound like a broken record. Everytime someone asks about waterfront camping on the Gulf, I come up with Port Lavaca, Lighthouse Campground, operated by the city of Port Lavaca Texas. I really nice campground on the bay, with electric, water and cable. Even has beachside cabana for a few extra $$.
Nearby is Magnolia Beach, free (at least it was in 2006) for boondocking.
Have fun.

RE: transmissions

I have the 8.1 engine and the 4 speed GM Transmisson. Perhaps "I don't know no better" but it has worked great the first 77,000 miles. Even pulled a loaded UHaul trailer from Phoenix to Dayton without any problems.

RE: For v10, chev 8.1 454

My 2002 Workhorse P-32 has both the 8.1 engine and the GM 4 speed transmisson. It works well on my 29' motorhome.

RE: MI to FL via I-75 where do you stop for the night?

We used Cove Lake State Park, TN Exit 134 last May on a trip to FL. It was handy to the interstate and even found a pull thru without a rexervation. Check it out.

RE: Whining differential on P30, can it be quieted?

My neglect or omission to make certain that the oil change techs serviced the differental cost me some $4500 for its' repair/replacement this Summer.
I heard a noise and thought it was the transmission, but it was the rear end. A Columbus Workhorse repair facility did the work.
I really felt taken, but didn't have any other choice.

RE: Going South In December

WE have used the I-77 route to SC may times in the Winter. Last year it was in January. Spent the first night in Statesville NC at the KOA. On the return early Feb, we spent a night at Camp Creek State Park, exit 19 West VA. Electic only--but really pretty with the mountain stream beside us, and light covering of snow.
Do watch the weather forcasts. We delayed leaving until we found the roads clear. All the states have web sites that will tell you the road conditions.

RE: RT. 160 Kansas

You could stop in Coffeyville to see the Dalton Defender's Museum, about the Dalton Gang attempting to hold up 2 banks at the same time.
Then Little House on the prairie is about 3 miles North of 160 some 5-8 miles west of Coffeyville.
Also Coffeyville has a city operated RV Campground at Walter Johnson Park, Electic and Water, (might check to see if the water gets turned off in the winter).

RE: Camping in Charleston, SC

We have used the KOA Mt Pleasant many times. My daughter lives just 2 miles away. It is one of the better KOA's in the system. Covered heated pool in the winter, large lake etc. A bit pricey, for me, but I bite the buller.

RE: Running A/C from house outlet

I run the a/c on my motorhome, both at my house and my father's house on 15 amp circut, but I turn the refrigerator to L/P. I use the 30 AMP cord at home, and at Dad's I use a 12 gage--(my 30 isn't long enough)

RE: Full hook-up items

Radio Shack sells push-on cable ends, that work fairly well. Once in while you have to tighten the push-on ends by squeezing the sides. Sure beats trying to screw on the cable when it near the ground and you are standing in the rain and cold.

RE: Campground Ideas Between Galveston & Port Aransas

Lighthouse Beach, Port Lavaca Texas, a city operated campground on the bay. Fullhooks and cable, and if you want a cabana. We only stayed a couple days each time, but really find it nice.

My stepson installed one in my motorhome last week. We had trouble in finding the right Dicor product, they shipped us a tube overnight. Great Service.

RE: carlsbad caverns

If time permits, and you are heading back to Missouri, you might want to consider Monahans Texas State Park, about 2 1/2 hours east of Carlsbad. We thought enough of it, to have been there twice.

We were dissappointed in the Meteor Crater, but maybe we expected too much. Walnut Canyon National Momument, near Flagstaff, worth the stop.

RE: Snowbird Rates on Utilities

I will second the idea to let the Credit Card people know that you will be having some unusual charges from a different location. You may want to register to your cell phone number the credit card people, so that if they need to verify a charge, they won't get a voicemail that may not be answered quickly.
